a long wait

.

.

it was so long he had

entrapped

showing his teeth – he was a night stalker

grumbling and growling and pacing

with anticipated mirth, he was sure

the last laugh would be his

.

his patience grew weaker by the season

.

and when the fog grasped the ground

he lay frail, unable to fend

the advances made to slew him, yet

his death was without fight to the blood

he just gasped the heavy air

until he drowned

.

his underwater grave

masking the cry of the wolf’s soul

departed

.

laughing, the troll dropped

to his knees

.

and kissed the ground

ThinkingTen:

He dropped to his knees and kissed the ground.

Underwater, fog, frail, a mask, an animal

  1. mirth – what a lovely word!
This little tale haunts me, before I must go to bed.
Animals and characters of myth will dream with me!
    Thank you!
