He dropped to his knees and kissed the ground. Then the ground fell.

That’s how he began every show.

Six shows a week.
Fourty-six weeks a year.
He did this for seven years,
when it happened.
The ground fell.
As he went down
He was trying to think of a comeback line
And imaging a cord, not unlike a bungee
but it was really, really long
so he could reach China.
Then he remembered a friend
from Australia
who said the same thing when he was playing in the dirt…
We had odd imaginations when we were younger.
Thinking China
was directly below the X-spot on the ground
and that you can dig to get there.
Then he thought
that was a strange thing to think of
as he was still falling,
you know,
’cause the ground fell.
Then his ten minutes were up.
Stage left.
I never said he was funny.

Take it Away, Tuesday:
The only rule: start your story with:

He dropped to his knees and kissed the ground.

  1. Ha…we thought the same thing when we were kids…if you dig deep enough you’d be in China…then we learned about geography and that all changed. 😉

  2. what really got me was that an Austalian friend thought the same thing?
That’s nuts…. did everyone think that China was perfectly opposite?
