An Eight Hour Tour, part one

moss and dirtbrowngreen
muck the Hudson
though the storm had passed
palisades gave way to
sunlight peeking through cloud pillows
scrooning north, away from city-scape concrete-grey

sporadic dots of mustard yellow & burgundy
wearing cast shadows from above

i could hear the leaves singing when gusts
met at one point
one tree echoes in breath-whispers

in a most titanic way, i could be found a’stern
river mist spraying my face toward the sky
eyes
closed
i was the luckiest and alive
